What is epidemiology and what is the epidemiology of MSUD?
The definition of epidemiology is the study of the distribution/spread of a particular disease. The epidemiology of MSUD is quite fascinating. According to PubMed MSUD is a rare disease in the United States and about 1 in every 185,000 live births will be diagnosed with MSUD.
What populations are more susceptible to MSUD?
According to PubMed, CDC, and medical journals over MSUD it seems to be more prevalent in people with Mennonite heritage. Now there are still cases of MSUD in peole with non-mennonite heritage. It is still uncertain why the gene mutation is seen more in Mennonite hertiage than others. In the United States "certain Mennonite populations of Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New York, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Missouri have a carrier frequency for classic MSUD as high as one in ten and a disease incidence of approximately one in 380 live births" (Maple Syrup Urine Disease).

I'm 55-year-old from Korean, I was diagnosed with second-stage liver cancer following a scheduled examination to monitor liver cirrhosis. I had lost a lot of weight.
