Grayson's story of living with MSUD

What is MSUD?
Maple Syrup Urine Disease, MSUD, is when an individual's urine and ear wax smells like maple syrup. Now, that may not sound like such a bad thing...but sadly that means that the body is having digestion problems that are severe and life threatening. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, MSUD is hereditary disease where the body is unable to break down three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
What happens when the body can't break down the three amino acids? When the body can't break down the three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine they begin to build up in the blood. If untreated this can cause severe brain damage that can lead to seizures, coma, and death.

Food for thought...before reading this blog and seeing Grayson's story did you know about MSUD or have known anyone to be diagnosed?
